resized-puvwzIn addition to keeping you updated about all the great things that are going on at The Clubhouse, we thought we’d turn the tables and put the focus on all the exciting things our fantastic members are achieving!

For our December ‘Member in the Spotlight’ feature we spoke to Sarah Grace, Founder of Sarah Grace London. Sarah joined The Clubhouse in June – some of you may have met her at our St. James’s Square launch party!

1. Tell us about yourself and your company.
I studied Interior and Spatial Design at Chelsea College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London, and then went travelling before spending a number of years working as a luxury events & wedding planner, working for some quite high-profile clients, including some royals!

I decided to set up Sarah Grace London earlier this year. I create unique ‘floating ink’ designed luxury silk scarves, inspired by the ancient technique of Suminagashi, the Japanese art of marbling. My brand was born out of a desire to combine my passion for art and fashion with the techniques learned during my travels in the Orient and the Far East.

I incorporated my company in March, we had a soft launch at Pure London in July and we launched officially in September, so it’s all still very early days!

2. What has been your biggest success so far?
Actually launching the company has probably been the biggest success so far! However, saying that, I am also collaborating with a charity for homeless women called the Marylebone Project, which provides long and short-term beds, essential facilities and support to homeless women. I wanted to give back to those less fortunate than myself in my local community, so from the outset Sarah Grace London has been supporting the project. Every purchase of a Sarah Grace scarf goes towards empowering homeless women into independent living.

3. Who inspires you and why?
An American lady called Dani Johnson. She was homeless but managed to turn her life around to become a self-made multi-millionaire – she’s incredibly inspiring!

I’m very excited to launch my Spring/Summer collection. The scarves I’ve launched currently are just a very small snippet of the range I’ll have, so it will be great to have an expanded .

6. How has being a member of The Clubhouse improved the way you work or contributed to the success of your business?
The Clubhouse is a great, central space for hosting meetings. I have also made a lot of contacts, especially when I attended the launch party for St. James’s Square back in June.

7. Where can other members find you?
I’m usually at St. James’s Square in the main space hosting meetings.

8. What is your favourite place to go in London? (apart from The Clubhouse obviously!)
I love to go to galleries – one of my favourites is the Halcyon Gallery on New Bond Street. My favourite sculpture artist Lorenzo Quinn is currently exhibiting there.

We hope you enjoyed finding out a little more about Sarah and Sarah Grace London, don’t forget to say hello if you see her at The Clubhouse!
